HOUSE FAIRVIEW. before & after

A modest but sizeable space, what the House Fairview ensuite bathroom lacked in function it made up for in size. It is not your typical ensuite… Completed in late 2018 this project was the contemporary touch this character filled suburban home needed to begin its transformation.

The Brief: A rotten 70’s inspired timber vanity with under mounted basins is what pushed my clients to get in touch, they had the vanity removed months before meeting with me and required a solution for the large gaping hole it left. Research showed that having a new vanity custom made to fit the space was going to be an expensive exercise, which left them considering the renovation of the entire space.

The brief was to create a contemporary but timeless space with subtle industrial influence. They wanted a fresh clean space that didn’t feel clinical.

BEFORE

The challenges; The two major challenges were lighting and layout. Because of its location, the bathroom has very little natural light. When reconsidering the layout we needed to keep in mind that the client hoped to include a walk in shower and freestanding bath.

AFTER

The solutions; We introduced task lighting above the mirrors as well as keeping the standard general light fitting, we also introduced a frosted glass industrial door which allowed natural light to flow from the bedroom patio doors into the bathroom.
