Etsy Roundup – Black, white and taupe

Today’s Etsy round up is a goodie, a classic colour combo.

I love how the natural hue of taupe softens the contrast of the black and white. The taupe colour can be found in so many different materials namely leather, timber, paper, natural linens… The list goes on.

These chairs will be up for sale soon, stay tuned.

I’m one week away from being apart of the Zana team for one WHOLE month!! Time sure does fly when you are having fun. This has been both the busiest and exciting months of my career thus far. I’m doing what I love and I couldn’t be happier.

Before starting at Zana I was asked by Robyn, the co-founder and creative director, to help design the new studio space. It was a easy and enjoyable task, Robyn has wonderful taste and is pretty in tune with the latest trends. The space turned out stunning and I now have first hand experience in how much of a wonderful space it is to work in (if I do say so myself) …

After settling down in our new studio office space in the Salt Circle Building in Woodstock, we were itching to do a studio shoot. We did the shoot this past Saturday with the talented Lindie Meyer, she has posted a sneaky peek of the photos over on her blog. More photos to follow soon.

Follow us on twitter and instagram to find out when these chairs will be for sale.

Etsy Roundup: Evil Eye

Evil Eye Etsy round up by Melissa Louise

HAPPY FRIDAY!

We are kicking this Friday off with something that’s trending like crazy at the moment, the Evil Eye symbol.

I was first exposed to the evil Eye when on holiday in Greece. The evil eye is a malevolent look that many cultures believe able to cause injury or misfortune for the person at whom it is directed for reasons of envy or dislike. Talismans (A talisman  is an object which is believed to contain certain magical properties which would provide good luck for the possessor and possibly offer protection from evil or harm.) created to protect against the evil eye are also frequently called “evil eyes.”

Traditionally in Greece the evil eye is predominantly a feature in jewellery and glass talismans while today its a symbol that’s being applied to any medium.

Below is a roundup of  evil eye products that can be purchased on Etsy. While evil eye jewellery remains quite traditional, the evil eye has been adapted in print and in some instances it has been broken down into elements that only suggest the symbol.

My absolute favourites are numbers 7, 11 and 13. Which are yours?

You can see a few previous Etsy Roundups here , here ,here and here.

Trending Now: Black & White

Black and white is an old classic. This season not only is it trending in fashion but in interiors too. Here’s a look at Black and white inspired interiors done right.

A: Orlando Soria apartment makeover on Emily Hendersons blog.

This is a great way to incorporate b&w into a space without it being too overbearing. In Emily Hendersons article her focus is on how to create a focal wall using black and white art pieces as an anchor.

B: Home of Graphic Designer Therese Sennerholt.

Design Studio 210 has written a great article on how Therese has used her home as an extension of her brand, see it here. This is a good example of how to do a complete b&w colour palate right.

Below are a few local items you can purchase and incorporate into your home to achieve b&w inspired looks.
